Submission information
Submission guidelines
China Policy Journal (CPJ) publishes original articles focusing on contemporary policy issues in Greater China. Priority will be given to articles that make strong theoretical or empirical contributions, and articles that relate their conclusions broadly to regional and global contexts. We are especially interested in systematic analysis of policy options, rigorous policy evaluation, and in-depth analysis of policy development process. Rigorous case studies and systematic surveys that challenge existing policy theories are also welcome.
Articles should be submitted electronically as an email attachment, and editorial correspondence should be addressed to: cpj@bnu.edu.cn
All submissions are subject to double-blind peer review. We will not review manuscripts that are currently under review for publication or that have been previously published.
Format-Free Submission
Authors may submit their paper in any scholarly format or layout. Manuscripts may be supplied as single or multiple files. These can be Word, rich text format (rtf), open document format (odt), PDF, or LaTeX files. Figures and tables can be placed within the text or submitted as separate documents. Figures should be of sufficient resolution to enable refereeing.
There are no strict formatting requirements, but all manuscripts must contain the essential elements needed to evaluate a manuscript: abstract, author affiliation, figures, tables, funder information, and references. Further details may be requested upon acceptance.
References can be in any style or format, so long as a consistent scholarly citation format is applied. For manuscripts submitted in LaTeX format a .bib reference file must be included. Author name(s), journal or book title, article or chapter title, year of publication, volume and issue (where appropriate) and page numbers are essential. All bibliographic entries must contain a corresponding in-text citation. The addition of DOI (Digital Object Identifier) numbers is recommended but not essential.
The journal reference style will be applied to the paper post-acceptance by CPJ.
Spelling can be US or UK English so long as usage is consistent.
Note that, regardless of the file format of the original submission, an editable version of the article must be supplied at the revision stage.
Style Guidelines (for post-accepted paper):
- All manuscripts should range from 25 to 40 pages in length (7000-12,000 words). This includes the abstract, the manuscript text, all charts, figures, and references.
- Manuscripts submitted should have no author identification in the cover sheets, text, notes, or sources. Authors and each of their contact information should be identified in the submission email.
- All manuscripts must have an abstract and a list of key words on the title page. The abstract, and each figure and table must be on separate pages
- Only three descending levels of headings should be used periodically and consistently throughout the article. Headings should be descriptive but brief.
- Tables, charts, diagrams, and other graphic materials should be used for providing necessary information or clarification of central concepts.
- If copyright permission is required for publishing the graphic material, it is the author’s responsibility to obtain it at his/her own cost.
- CPJ uses in-text citations with a full list of references at the end of the manuscript; the Chicago Manual of Style should be used as the primary reference source.
